DOMAINS FAMILY PICARD

Chalonnaise coast

A sharp and sincere Mercurey palette

A rumor circulates in the village: Levert Barault is one of the oldest wine estates of Mercurey. Indeed, its creation by the Levert family dates back to the 16th century. Some archives testifying to their passage remain in the heart of old Mercurey. In 1997, the Picard family acquired this exceptional 9.5 hectare vineyard, whose emblematic plots are called Les Combins, les Champs Martin, Clos des Barrault.

Nuggets in the raw state that the estate's teams are responsible for shaping into rare and precise wines. Five climats in Premiers Crus de Mercurey, organic viticulture, respect for the plot from vinification to bottling make the identity of Levert-Barault. Explore the secret terroirs of Mercurey through a tasting journey of the domain's authentic wines.

Precise and accessible wines

Taken over by the Picard family since 1991, the main characteristic of the Voarick estate is its size. No less than 68 hectares of vines are in fact vinified in the estate's new cellars, completely renovated between 2018 and 2020. Almost all of the vineyard is planted near the farm, between Saint Martin sous Montaigu and Mercurey. But it would be inappropriate to imagine finding a large winemaking complex there. The winegrower approach is essential, the plot work required and this from pruning, through vinification and aging to bottling.

We are fortunate to own many parcels in the Mercurey appellation, whose soils and subsoils can vary significantly. This natural diversity, exacerbated by an environmental vineyard management, makes it possible to sculpt wines with different aromatic and tannic complexities. The philosophy is identical for the other appellations of the estate, located in the neighboring village of Givry. Charm, roundness, accessibility, precision, these are the attributes of the wines of the Voarick estate.
